BYW is the welsh translation of life or living. It is also initialism for Believe You Will. The key words to describe the project are ENGAGEMENT, TRANSITION and EMPOWERMENT. BYW project takes referrals from mental health secondary care services in Wrexham – Heddfan Unit, Coed Celyn, Home Treatment Team, Recovery Team and CMHT. Individuals are actively lead and supported from their first tentative enquiry, to their path back into the community. BYW is a point of contact for those in acute and secondary care for support with queries and also provides familiar face’s during the transition period between inpatient and the community, and from community into recovery.
BYW is for individuals (Currently Under Secondary Care) to be reintegrated into community based activities and/or services. The main question we ask to each person we support is “What matters to you?” And whatever matters to the person, then that is what we will work on. BYW is about moving forward and moving on. People can and do recover from mental illness.
