Powys Montgomery Federation of Womens Institutes
Women's Institutes within Powys Montgomery Federation (PMFWI) offer their members a vast program of events organised at local level each month with speakers, demonstrations and social evenings, too vast to mention, we can honestly say there really is something for everyone!
Like our local WI's the Federation also offer a variety of events to bring our WI's and members together , which include arts, crafts, music, drama, public affairs, science and sport & leisure, examples include the popular "Spring show" hosted by our Home Economics sub-committee each May, where our members have the opportunity to display items in cookery, painting, drawing, floral art, and crafts of all mediums set to a theme, this is a wonderful day for both competitors as well as visitors to this event, very much a shop window of our Powys Montgomery Federation. Our Social, Music and Drama sub-committee do what it says on the tin, organising trips to a variety of places, including shopping and theatre trips, as well our in-house entertainment evening usually taking place in October, this evening really is a treat not to be missed, a much loved event by our members. Our sporting events are well supported by our members, with at least one sporting event taking place each month, including darts, dominoes, table tennis, tennis, bowling, short and outdoor, croquet to name but a very few, a recent addition to our sporting diary is New Age Kurling and what fun our members are having taking part in this new event,
Last but not least are our campaigners who actively work hard to support the campaigns discussed each year from National Federation of WI's as well as NFWI-Wales, such as "SoS Honeybees", "Cool – Country of Origin Labelling" , "Love Your Libraries", "Campaign Against Violence Against Women" and the more recent "Save Our High Streets". To add to our busy schedule is our Federation holiday the popular 4 day "Snail Trail" so called for its slow and leisurely pace usually incorporating stately homes and gardens.
