Fields in Trust Cymru

Fields in Trust Cymru’s mission is the same as that throughout the UK which is to ensure that everyone – young or old, able or disabled and wherever they live – should have access to free, local outdoor space for sport, play and recreation. These spaces are vital to building happy and healthy communities but sadly continue to be threatened by all kinds of development. To achieve our aim we safeguard recreational spaces and campaign for better statutory protection for all kinds of outdoor sites.
While many of Fields in Trust’s projects and protection programmes operate in Wales, Fields in Trust Cymru has also developed its own unique projects such as Owain Glyndwr Fields. It has supported the Welsh Government on the development of legislation and policy and in preparation for the 2016 National Assembly for Wales elections, has produced its Playing Fields Manifesto.
We assist Sport Wales in its role as statutory consultee on proposals affecting playing fields and both organisations have worked together in producing Guidance Notes on the Long Term Protection of Recreational Land in Wales.
