We are based at Tŷ Croeso, St David’s House, 48 Free Street, Brecon, LD3 7BN where we welcome and support people affected by mental illness and distress.
We provide a wide range of healthy activities, courses and services from our main centre in Brecon although we also provide access points in Crickhowell, Hay-on-Wye and Talgarth.
Our weekly programme of activities are designed to support and empower people who experience mental distress to move towards well-being. The service complements those provided by the Community Mental Health Team and other voluntary sector agencies.
We are largely funded by Powys Teaching Health Board and Powys Social Services although this funding is supplemented by grants and fund-raising activities.
We are supported by an active Friends group which organises a programme of events and talks to raise awareness and understanding of mental health issues.
We provide a range of services designed to support and empower people who experience mental distress, which is accessible and delivered by an experienced team of staff and volunteers. There is no requirement for formal referral - just give us a call or 'drop in'. We aim to work with members [service users] to improve confidence and self-esteem and encourage personal development.
The service which is based on the principles of social inclusion and the recovery model complements and integrates with services provided by the community mental health team and other voluntary sector agencies in the area.
Members [service users] are encouraged to participate in the planning, design, delivery and monitoring of the services we provide.
Our main base is in Brecon, however, we also provide an outreach service one day a week to the communities of Crickhowell, Hay-on-Wye and Talgarth. As well as our drop in service we offer a variety of other ways to support people:
