Workhouse History Centre

One of Britain’s finest surviving Victorian workhouses and the only one in Wales open to the public. A heritage attraction comprising a small museum with bilingual displays on workhouse life; a 30-minute film, ‘Ghosts of the Workhouse’ in Welsh or English; visitor and family trails around the courtyards and some interior spaces. Children can dress in workhouse costume and pick oakum. Second-hand bookshop open.

Self-guided visit, open daily without charge: a donation is appreciated. Guided tours can be arranged: group and school visits especially welcome by appointment.
