St Nicholas House was a former vicarage, it was built in the mid-19th century of stone quarried from nearby Corndon Hill and was established as a residential care home for the elderly in 1986. In 2010 the Home was extended to provide a nursing service. The Nursing side of the home has been named the Myra Wing. Myra, an ancient town in Lycia (Turkey), was where St Nicholas became a Bishop. St Nicholas became known throughout the land for his generosity to those in need, a trait that we hope to foster with all our staff. The Myra wing has been built to a high standard which meets with Care Standards 2002 legal requirements for room specification.
