SNAP Cymru is a registered Welsh charity that provides information, advice and support for parents children and young people (0-25), who have or may have special educational needs (SEN) and disabilities. Our advice is impartial, confidential and free and provided through our All Wales helpline, website and our specialist casework service.

We offer independent advice on legislation, local and national policy across Education, Health and Care, SEN support, Statutory Assessment, Appeals and Tribunals. We also offer casework support for meetings with professionals, mediation, complaints and appeals.

We provide:
Information and advice on Local Authorities’ legal duties to assess and provide for children with Special Educational Needs
Information and advice on Exclusions of children with Special Needs/Disabilities
Advice on action/inaction by Local Authorities and/or schools which discriminate against children and young people with Disabilities
SNAP Cymru services are provided by our highly trained staff and volunteers - many are parents of children with Special Educational Needs. We also hold the Community Legal Services Specialist Award for Education Advice, and the Queens Award for Volunteering
SNAP Cymru is funded to provide the Parent Partnership Service in 20 Local Authorities in Wales; Disagreement Resolution in SEN/ALN and also Welsh Government family projects in certain areas, such as Cardiff, Swansea, Ynys Mon and Merthyr. However, we also rely on donations and grants from trusts, companies and individuals in order to run our free services
We seek to improve SEN policy across Wales using the evidence we gather via our relationships with families and by taking part in Government consultations
We provide training on SEN and Disability law and policy and best practice for families and professionals such as Youth Offending Teams, the Public Service Ombudsman’s Team and Careers Wales
