Say Aphasia

Say Aphasia

Say Aphasia provides vital long-term support for people living with aphasia—a communication disability that can occur after a stroke or brain injury.

While many survivors receive clinical speech and language therapy, they often face a "cliff edge" of isolation once that therapy ends. Our service fills this gap by offering a unique, peer-led model. Our groups are run by people who live with aphasia themselves, creating an environment of immediate empathy where there is no pressure to speak "perfectly."

What we offer:

Weekly & Monthly Drop-ins: Social sessions in relaxed community settings (cafes and resource centres) in Barry, Abergavenny, and Cwmbran.

Online Support: A dedicated Wales Online Group for those who cannot travel or prefer to join from home.

Confidence Building: A safe space to practice communication, share experiences, and make new friends.

Carer Support: Partners and carers are warmly welcomed to attend and find support within our community.

Our goal is to help members regain their social life and independence in a supportive, non-judgmental atmosphere.
