Next Steps

We’re committed to continuing our community work in Wales.

Thanks to successful funding applications from the Stroke Implementation Group in Wales and the National Lottery’s Community Fund, we’re delighted to say that a new, three-year project called the Next Steps project will start on 1 April 2022, building on our learnings from the Stroke Community Steps project.

The Next Steps project will focus on enhancing the current community-based support network for stroke survivors and carers across Wales.

Ours Next Steps Officer will be setting up group-based activities, designed to bring together people affected by stroke to share experiences, learn new skills/rediscover old ones, recover confidence and re-engage in community life. They’ll also be working with established partners as well as identifying new ones to provide activities based on the identified needs of beneficiaries.

Activities will support physical, emotional and cognitive recovery, promoting improvement across a range of areas, including physical strength, dexterity, balance, movement, speech and communication, emotional health and wellbeing. Activities will be offered using a combination of face-2-face and online support.
