According to the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act 2014 (revised April 2018). A local authority looking after a child has a duty to appoint an independent person to be the child’s visitor where it appears to them to be in the child’s best interests to do so - section 98(1) of the Act. The IV Service in Mid and West Wales is commissioned in line with this criteria.
An Independent Visitor is a volunteer who visits, advises and befriends an eligible child or young person.
