Soar Cultures

The purpose of Diwylliannau Soar / Soar Cultures is to celebrate both the differences and similarities between different global cultures found in Merthyr Tydfil and south Wales. The project will create songs, music and poetry that reflects and celebrates a multi-cultural Merthyr Tydfil.

The project will work with people from Merthyr Tydfil and other parts of south Wales, who have direct and recent cultural links (first and second generation) to other parts of the world, running a series of music, singing and songwriting workshops using elements from those cultural traditions and languages, together with the Welsh language and culture.

Following the workshops there will be a celebratory music event, which will bring together all elements developed through the workshops, for a multi-cultural performance of a new composition created with the participants, which would also act as a catalyst to start a multi-cultural collective, focused on song and music.
