CBT – SilverCloud
What is CBT?
CBT stands for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. CBT is based on the concept that your thoughts, feelings, physical sensations and actions are interconnected, and that negative thoughts and feelings can trap you in a vicious cycle. ( NHS website ). Using different methods and tools you can learn to improve these negative thinking patterns.
CBT focuses on your thoughts and feelings now rather than issues from your past.
What is SilverCloud?
SilverCloud is an online space that has many different tools and techniques using CBT to help you manage your mental health. SilverCloud has a number of different programmes that you can work though on a number of different subjects – they are designed to help you look at your thoughts and behaviours and use CBT tools to help overcome them.
You can get access to Silvercloud through GP surgeries in Llandrindod, Builth, Rhayader, Knighton, Presteigne and Llanwrtyd. You can also access SilverCloud through Mid & North Powys Mind’s Wellbeing Centre and speaking to our support worker Caroline Stanley – She can refer to both the blended and online CBT.
With SilverCloud you work through the modules at your own pace. You can chose to do this on your own, in which case you will only need to see your GP for a referral to the online system, or you can chose to do this with a “Blended on-line CBT practitioner” – for this you will still need a GP referral.
Note: You will require you to provide your email address as this is needed for sign up to the programme.
What is a “blended on-line CBT practitioner”?
A Blended on-line CBT Practitioner is someone who can help support you through the online programme.
They are Mid & North Powys Mind workers who are based in surgeries around Mid Powys and they can help you through the programmes on-line so that you don’t have to do it yourself. They can talk you through your feelings and explain some of the information from the programmes to you.
What kind of thing will I be doing on SilverCloud?
The programme is built up around six to seven modules which you can complete at your own pace. The guided time frame for completion is usually around 8-12 weeks, but if you need to take more time you can. One of the main benefits of this programme is that you can dip in and out as much or as little as you feel is suitable. The programme is very easy to use, and the use of interactive tools makes your experience interesting and motivational.
There are 8 main programmes available to choose from:
Space from Anxiety & Depression
