I am the local authorities Carer Support Coordinator, where I support unpaid carers in the area of Merthyr Tydfil. I work with carers and colleagues to improve outcomes for carers in a way that ensures early identification and promotes the benefits of supporting carers to maintain their caring role. I also work with carers to develop conversations with the individual carer, exploring their needs and desired outcomes. Working collaboratively to identify the support and/or services which are appropriate and responsive to their needs and enable them to continue for as long as possible in their caring role. Another aspect of my role is to, promote the voice of carers and ensure they feel listened to about matters which are important to them.
