We are offering 6 hours of basic training in Mental Health and Wellbeing to young people aged between 16-25, with the hope of producing a network of "Mental Health Champions" who can, on a voluntary basis, feed this back into their communities, through the delivery of supported workshops.
Participants will receive all necessary training, including presentation skills, mental health including anxiety, depression, eating disorders, the Gwent 5 ways to wellbeing campaign, safeguarding and autism awareness sessions. Opportunities are given to complete first aid and other training and to work on our other peer-led projects.
Participants can help us to develop the youth-led project by workshop building, taking place in a youth panel and attending social hubs.
This peer-led approach to workshop delivery is effective in getting important messages across to young people and we have been successful using this model in many schools and colleges and youth services across Gwent.
